- Joining the army "Nationale Volksarmee", Air Force and trained for radio-operator
- 3 years studies on the Navigation School Ostseebad Wustrow and leaving as "Ingenieur für Seefunk" with the Second Class Operators Certificate .
- Sailing as radioofficer on different ships in the DSR-Deutsche Seereederei
- 1975 First Class Operators Certificate .
- Visiting Navigational Highscool Warnemünde-Wustrow to become an diplome-engineer für Shipselectronics /Radio-Communication .
- After finishing the seagoing-service occupation as repair-engineer and other jobs up to technical director in the technical department of DSR
